Designing
Contingencies
The design and implementation of
effective contingencies to solve problems of social importance
is the sine qua non of behavior analysis. This binder
compiles many of the contingencies known to reflect 'best
practice' for achieving ethical change in problematic
behavior. For service providers already familiar with
the principles and operations of behavior analysis the
worksheets contained within this binder will serve as
a convenient means of standardizing your communication
and documentation of procedures.
For
those less familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis the
booklet will provide an overview of the critical concepts,
principles and operations that the ethical utilization
of each of the contingencies contained herein. Of
particular note is the one page "cheat sheat"
that guides the provider through a set of key questions
that help localize which contingencies to utilize for
which purpose. In addition, each contingency description
is designed so that that pages can be copied and completed
for an individual learner or client. This is important
because it allows for both the individualization of a
program and ensures that ethical safeguards are being
followed in the delivery of that program. Above
all else, it is hoped that this booklet will assist the
service provider in selecting and delivering the right
contingency, for the right reason, and in the right
way for each and every consumer of ABA services.
